OIL-WATER SEPARATION SOLUTIONS

FLOTATORS

Flotators are efficient systems for the continuous removal of suspended oils and solids from water.

Specifically, they are secondary treatments to be installed after the API separator and/or the CPI separator.

This equipment is especially ideal when high flow rates are involved and if significant separation performance is required.

TECNIPLANT specializes in the design, engineering and construction of different types of induced air/gas flotators (IAF/IGF) and dissolved air/gas flotators (DAF/DGF).
Air and induced gas flotators can be:

  1. turbines (IDF – Impeller Drive Flotators)
  2. injectors (EDF – Eductor Drive Flotators)

Both types are composed of the following compartments: a series of flotation cells and the inlet and outlet chambers.

Air and dissolved gas flotators use an external compressor to create bubbles.

In addition, based on customer specifications, TECNIPLANT can produce the mentioned flotators with atmospheric or pressurised design.

In general, TECNIPLANT flotators are designed as stand-alone systems or combined with skids complete with ancillaries.

In both cases, the oil content leaving the flotator can be reduced by up to 95% of the input value, with the addition of a quantity of properly selected polyelectrolyte.

Finally, they are easy to transport and install, in full compliance with TECNIPLANT’s ‘plug & play’ philosophy.

In this way, installation, start-up and commissioning times are reduced.

THE DISTINCTIVE ELEMENTS OF FLOTATORS

The ability to remove solids with a particle size up to 30 microns is one of the distinguishing elements of TECNIPLANT flotators.

Below there is a list of all the characteristic elements of our line of flotators:

  • Removal of solids with a particle size up to 30 microns
  • Suitable for treating water with a maximum input oil content of about 250 mg/l
  • Reduction of oil content by up to 95% of the input value
  • Atmospheric or pressurised construction
  • Internal and external anticorrosive surface treatment
  • Low cost and minimal maintenance
  • Flow rates up to 1200 m3/h per equipment
  • Very low retention times for IAF and IGF (a few minutes)
  • Interiors in AISI 316L, Duplex and Super Duplex, etc.
  • Construction according to ASME VIII Div. 1, PED, U-Stamp, etc.
  • Compact design
