API SEPARATORS

API separators are the ideal solutions for treating oily wastewater.

They are usually used for preliminary water treatment before the flotation process.

API separators treat and remove free oil from oily water with oil globule diameters greater than 150 microns.

To function, this type of separator exploits the difference in specific weight between free oil, oily water and suspended solids.

In particular, API separators are designed to ensure sufficient retention time for the oil to rise to the surface and the solids to settle on the bottom.

This is why the speed of the fluid inside the separator is extremely slow.

The division process in the API separators involves the following steps:

1. The motorised chain is dragged across the surface of the liquid to be treated, optimising the collection of oils in the skimmers.
2. The skimmer devices remove free oil from the surface and send it into the oil collection pipes.
3. The motorized chain drags the scraping systems, which collect the sludge from the bottom, guiding it into the collection basin.

Important note: the materials used for the chain and for the parts in contact with the liquid are determined by the chemical and physical characteristics of the product to be treated.
