WASTEWATER TREATMENT

Wastewater treatment is a process that converts waste and waste water into purified water.

Thus, they can be reintroduced into the water cycle or, alternatively, they can be used in industrial processes or irrigation.

Specifically, TECNIPLANT solutions allow the removal of contaminants both for water reuse and for disposal in the final receptor.

The yields of the treatment plant vary according to the type of technology applied and the number of purification processes used.

The type of treatment to be used depends on the designation or end use of the water. Some treatment methods are applicable to both primary and process water and wastewater.

There are six steps in the separation of contaminants:

1. Pre-treatment
2. Primary treatment
3. Secondary treatment
4. Tertiary treatment
5. Disinfection
6. Sludge treatment

Specifically, pre-treatment is a mechanical operation consisting of the following stages:

• Coarse grilling
• Equalization
• Oil Separation

Primary treatment involves chemical or physical operations to remove materials that could create problems in the subsequent stages.

Secondary treatment is the removal of biodegradable organic substances.

Next, tertiary treatment removes non-biodegradable organic substances, ions, macromolecules, nutrients and odours.

The disinfection stage removes microorganisms and bacteria.

Finally, sludge treatment is the final removal of any residues.
